After WW2 there was one difference: "NO" competition.

"I could end the deficit in 5 minutes," he told Becky Quick. "You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election."

That would work. But, I have a better idea that has a much better chance of passing than politicians ending their own careers. Put a sales tax on Wall St. We have to pay sales tax on the things we buy, why doesn't Wall St.?

Actually there is and YOU will be paying it next year. Part of Obamacare added a tax on stock trades which will reduce yields for millions of Americans.

Which is stupid. I should clarify, no taxes on Wall St. stock trades. Tax derivatives transactions, heck tax them if the transaction itself equals several hundred dollars in one transaction that they the average person doesn't get penalized. They are toxic, and people like George Soros and Warren Buffet dabble in these, not your average joe trying to get ahead in life. They were illegal from the 1940s to the 1980s since it's similar to a Ponzi Scheme. Derivatives caused the depression, they should be taxed out of existence, and then we wouldn't need to have an income tax, capital gains tax, or any other tax

There's a spending problem. Not a tax problem. Maybe moochelle will cut down on her multi million dollar vacations this term. Especially after her a hole husband said Americans are suffering out there.

We don't have a spending problem. We have a tax problem. New York State already has the remedy on the books, but they refund their tax receipts every year to Wall St. The remedy is not carbon taxes, more income taxes, more sales taxes, or a VAT aka national sales tax.

So you think government should just keep growing?

It grew from 7% to over 40% of GDP during the past century...... how BIG is big enough for you?

Apparently not big enough if our roads are a complete joke to the rest of the developed world, electric grid aging and falling apart, century old railroads that need replacing, almost all canals in the US need to be renovated entirely, we need to replace the majority of bridges in our country, water lines, sewer lines, tunnels, etc. I don't like driving on Latin American quality roads, do you? I also don't like the fact we're the only developed country that has had major bridge collapses in the last 20 years that weren't caused by earthquakes
