Raise the threshold on public subsidies so that labor wages return to market equilibrium.

That's just basic laziness. Lots of rich kids who are not made to work for anything get into trouble. But as long as they do it on their own family's dime, that is their business. There are lots of spoiled trust fund brats out there.

And there's no one forcing them to stay at Walmart.
Nothing substandard about min wage..that's what Congress has set it at.

Go petition the Fed to nationalize Walmart and pay everyone $20/hour with full benefits and pensions.
Heck, go all out and petition that government turn communist and nationalize everything and everyone will get paid like government workers because they will be government workers.

To some of you people..that is the path you are going down only you haven't quite voiced the word yet..COMMUNISM.

I'll tell you what is a travesty - that our military can justify paying such low wages to our men and women who are enlisted, that they and their families qualify for food stamps, free or reduced lunches, WIC, etc. In fact, many military families fall FAR below the official "poverty line."

And that same military has no problem paying $998,000.00 to ship 2 $.19 washers from SC to TX

For the same reason we are now expected to tip waiters, bellhops and other service sector workers for merely doing their job without adding any special considerations. When something becomes so prevelant so as to represent the norm, employers forego paying a living wage for providing that service.

Our own stupidity for tipping for anything beyond exemplory or outstanding service.

You all hate unions so much? Reducing them was the mantra for all of you? Well this should make you all very happy shouldn't it? Now you get hit with the make-up wage instead of the employer. What goes around comes around.

Funny you should bring that up. That very topic is over in the frugal living forum and I've been told that 20% is the "expected norm" now and has been for at least 10 years.

I asked the poster to please link where that social rule got changed..still waiting

yeah..20% is your "expected tip" now regardless of service or quality of food BECAUSE the wait staff don't make that much money.

I'm still sticking to the "old rules" myself.
