Very interesting article. Somewhat misleading title, but still an interesting read no matter what your views are on same-sex marriage.
Excerpt from article:
Quote:
Outlaw-heretics (opponents of homosexual marriage) have reason to fear inquisitorial persecution from the priests in the surrogate church (university), one of whom has candidly admitted that he and his anti-anti-homosexual colleagues are “sometimes self-righteous … and sometimes too dismissive or snotty toward those who disagree with us.”(8) At a minimum, outlaw-heretics have reason to fear that the new priests—for all their professed commitment to freedom for all—will actually lock them out of the democratic process.
How about the number one reason supporters want to legalize gay marriage? Due to certain rights granted by marriage that are not granted by civil unions. Would have been nice if the article acknowledged that rather than focusing solely on some fabricated anti-anti gay agenda.
Already at least three anti gay threads have gone out of control and been closed. What is up with these anti gay people, are they that afraid of us gaining equal status and equal rights? Everyone should be pleased that the USA is still the land of the free and that our freedoms will not be lost to the oppressers. Same sex marriage increases freedom, as long as a group of Americans are singled out for discrimination, then we have our freedom to worry about. Freedom belongs to every US citizen regardless of race, sex, age etc.

Please read the article. It's a little bit misleadingly-titled, and it's apparently the first part of a series of articles. It's not so much about same-sex marriage itself as it is about how "anti-anti-gay" people are targeted for their "heresies".

I read part of it, it is not misleading, it directly assumes that we gays want to attack the freedoms of those who oppose us. It does not take into account our need for equal protections. Besides it is a biased paper by the catholic church, I would never expect them to ever be honest about homosexuality. Marriage is not equal across the US for gay couples. Marriage is one of our equal rights and is not dependant on being religious or having a religion. Have your church weddings, I do not care, but do not deny me my secular wedding based on your religious beliefs. We have freedom from religion and its oppression.
Well you might find an uninformed prejudiced rant 'interesting', but I certainly didn't. We've heard it all before ad nauseum.
Don't like same-sex marriage? Don't have one.
Sick of threads about same-sex marriage? Don't start one.
If you are just wanting to b-itch and moan .... go right ahead. No-one's stopping you.
