This seems like a simple step that he could have done 4 years ago. It's not unreasonable to keep the criminally insane from buying guns. Or fertalizer and diesel, axes, knives or gasoline and matches. What a concept, restrict the nut, not honest, law abiding, sane citizens.

I do wonder how far he will try to go with this. Flip side is...if someone is taking Paxil or some other psycoactive drug just to "cope"...they probably shouldn't have guns.

Anti-depressants are some of the most commonly prescribed drugs in the U.S. --- that would eliminate a lot of gun owners.
Can't think of one of my liberal friends against adding the mentally ill to the NICS databases. But that's not enough... the loophole allowing private sales of firearms without background checks needs to be closed. Also, need to lengthen the amount of time before reselling a firearm to limit straw purchases.
You must be unstable / violent to want guns so you are refused guns because you are mentally unstable.
