The Dow is up above 14,000. I would like to demonstrate my lack of understanding of how the Dow Jones is calculated and how equity markets function by thanking the Republican Congress and Jesus for the Dow's performance today.

What've y'all got?

Sucker the masses and their 401(k) back into equity. Skim 90 basis points off the top. Pop the bubble. Rinse and repeat.

The movement in the stock market is big money movement, not the individual investor.

The movement of physical gold and the deal that the US worked out with Germany when Germany asked us for their gold has some analysts worried. UBS and Credit Suisse are moving their clients to allocated gold accounts from unallocated gold accounts. May be nothing but it has some gold analysts questioning all this movement by banks and sovereigns.

Corporate profits are actually either at or near record highs while most of them are sitting on mountains of cash right now. There is a sound basis for high stock market share prices right now.

Clearly the stock market has a liberal bias.

Of course, there ALWAYS is

Republicans have been blaming Obama for bad news about the economy since his first inauguration. It's only fair that Obama supporters give him credit when there's good news.

You mean like Peter Schiff? I just watched him today saying the market is going higher.
