Yes, let's punish people whose IQs are probably 80ish so we can add that .01 percent back to the budget.
The poor are your last bastion of prejudice, conservatives. Enjoy it while you can.
Who has suggested we punish the poor?
And conservatives are the ones who take care of the poor. We are the ones who contribute to private charities. Liberals are the ones who hate the poor and love to enslave them to the federal government.

Pure, flat-out welfare (welfare payments, housing & food stamps) spending last year was about $350 billion, or about 10% of total Federal spending. Hardly a drop in the bucket.
Not everybody is abusing the system. Almost half the country is on some form of welfare right now. To say every single one of these people is just a leech is absurd. This is something most of the critics will never understand because they have autistic minds. I know people who are reluctant to take handouts because as soon as they do the rest of the country will just accuse them of abusing the system. For some people it is all about survival. If we are going to shame people for taking tax dollars, maybe we should be shaming ourselves. Our high school education was paid for with tax dollars. Were we entitled to it? If you get "grants" for college that you aren't required to pay back you are taking tax dollars. Were you entitled to that? "free" food at your local fair? Chances are it was paid for by someone other then you. Before you judge other people (with NO evidence most of the time) we need to look in the mirror.

Oh we're not shaming people anymore. Our government is going out of their way to make sure they are not shamed. name changes, debit looking like cards, ads of healthy, happy and well dressed folks informing you that SNAP is good for your health.
We have more college students now on SNAP then ever before.
We are conquering the war on poverty as we get everyone on some type of government program.

Danny Creamer, 21, and Gina Allan, 18 spends each day watching their 47in flatscreen TV and smoking 40 cigarettes between them in their comfy two-bedroom flat. It is all funded by the taxpayer, yet the couple say they deserve sympathy because they are "trapped".
Japan distinguishes itself from the other economically advanced countries by caring for the principle that people who work should have more stuff than people who go on the welfare rolls.
Slash welfare, Lets turn this around, say you are dazed and bleeding and laying face down on a street in your nation's Capital after being robbed by one of the impoverished local gentry and this fellow Washingtonian is mulling over whether to put a bullet in your head so you won't do something like try to get the cops after him, do you think you deserve any smypathy?
