Just like the supposed Romney landslide?? The bill will not pass or it will be gutted and the Dems will likely take control of the senate in 2014

Reid is from a gun frendily state. Its hard to push for gun bans and then campagin that your a Second amendment politiction. Feinstein is from a place that is totally the oppisite. If she did not push for fun bans she may lose her seat. The sooner we shut this crap down and vote it from passing the better, and maybe we can move on with doing things that will work to help stop shootings.

It's pretty obvious from the president's more recent statements that there is not going to be any sort of gun laws passed that make any real changes. There might be something superficial like Obama did in his speech but despite all the claims that the country is for restrictions, politicians know otherwise and their jobs are the more important than principle on their part.

He won't take a stand one way or another.

Notice he didn't say Feinstein's bill could be added as an amendment. First he said there would be no votes on bans and then said the bill would be open to all amendments which now includes Feinstein's ban.

He's just being his usually slimy self and working about his own *ss and making sure he gets back to DC come next election.
Appease all, commit to none and stay blameless.
Why didn't he just kill it like all the bills the house sends him?

Reid is opposed to the gun ban but will open the bill up to amendments. That's where Feinstein will step in, offer the gun ban amendment, thereby allowing Democrats to vote for or against the amendment, thereby giving them the opportunity to "vote their consituents' desire" even though the preferred outcome (ie. gun ban) won't actually happen.

When the amendment is voted down, then vulnerable Democrats will be able to go back to their districts and tell their constituents how they voted and Democrats as a caucus avoid being held accountable for the not having the votes to amend the bill to include the ban.

Feinstein tries but fails. Her constituents are happy. Anti-gun Democrats in pro-gun districts vote against the Amendment and their constituents are happy.

Reid knows what he's doing, and it ain't noble.
