Obama ending the Bush fiasco in Iraq, Bin Laden dead, gays allowed to serve in the military and getting married, and now weed legalization!

I like this new libertarian direction America is headed toward.

America has always leaned libertarian.

American libertarianism, however, is not represented by contemporary "Libertarians."

I agree marijuana should be legalized. I think it will be decades though before its legal in all 50 states. The truth is most uneducated people think it is just as harmful as cocaine or heroin and group them all together.

And it was liberal policies that banned it in the first place. It's ironic that today it's liberals supporting its legalization and conservatives wanting it to remain illegal.

the label Libertarian means nothing in America. Many who identify themselves as Libertarian often support extremely oppressive policies.

it's not really a libertarian stance, is it?

it is all about regulation and taxation:

Polis’ measure would regulate marijuana the way the federal government handles alcohol: In states that legalize pot, growers would have to obtain a federal permit. Oversight of marijuana would be removed from the Drug Enforcement Administration and given to the newly renamed Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Marijuana and Firearms, and it would remain illegal to bring marijuana from a state where it’s legal to one where it isn’t.

Blumenauer’s bill would create a federal marijuana excise tax of 50 percent on the “first sale” of marijuana — typically, from a grower to a processor or retailer. It also would tax pot producers or importers $1,000 annually and other marijuana businesses $500.

ka-ching, it's ALWAYS about the money.

Just because you don't support it doesn't mean it's not a libertarian stance. It may not be perfect but it's a lot more libertarian than prohibition

Blumenauer is awesome, I always liked that guy, I really hope his bill becomes reality.
