Kudos!
yeah, that will zero out the accidental deaths by firearm that day (average 300-500 a year). So. . .yeah, great evidence its worthwhile!

We make auto (and truck) drivers
  • pass a written and practical efficiency exam.
  • maintain a current license.
  • register their vehicles into a national database.
  • have their vehicles inspected for operability and safety every year.
  • carry liability insurance so if they use their vehicle negligently (or allow anyone else to use it and they do so negligently), they can be held criminally and civilly responsible.
So let's require the same level of responsibility from people who want to own and operate guns.

And despite all that, how many people still die in traffic fatalities every year? If you don't want to own a gun, then by all means don't own one, but don't you dare infringe on my natural right to bear arms. Driving is a privilege that is granted and revoked by the state government, my right to bear arms isn't subject to popular opinion. Don't like it, there are plenty of countries you can move to where law-abiding people are banned from owning guns.

"Don't you dare." LOL!

You don't have a "natural" right to own a gun. Bearing arms may be enshrined in the Constitution, but being allowed to own any old weapon you please is not. Even the most conservative Supreme Court justice, Antonin Scalia, says so. Read Heller if you don't believe me. Heller even says restrictions such as not allowing guns in certain places, and restrictions on where guns can be carried concealed are all perfectly reasonable rules gun owners may be required to abide by.

You are about to get more stringent guidelines on your gun ownership. If you don't like it, there are plenty of uninhabited islands you can start your own country on. This one expects you to take some responsibility to the rest of us in society.
