Again, what animals are you talking about? These are teens, not wolves. Also the realistic way to think about the situation is that one should simply put an undercover cop at a location that has been hit more than once. That will end the problem and be a better solution that gunning down teens for stealing.
Some animal the other day was jealous of my expensive sports car, so he keyed it. Thankfully I was nearby to witness it and walk over and put the animal down with a bullet to the back of his head. That animal learned that actions have consequences.

If someone steals from a small business owner, or causes considerable damage to their store or merchandise, that would effect the business owners life in a very big way.
If people are willing to attack the life and livelihood of an individual, they should be prepared to pay with their life in return.
Stealing something someone worked hard for, or damaging their way of making a living and supporting their family is considered a threat and needs to be dealt with accordingly.
Better than shooting them, store owners should hire some muscle and when this happens to them, lock the doors and have your hired muscle come out from the back with bats and pipes and beat the snot out of their skulls and knees like the mob would do.
