Here we have a letter from a lawyer who claims he was spit upon when coming home from Vietnam by people who were too liberal not to treat him as a "baby killer" etc. Not only do we have proof that he wrote the letter to Nancy Pelosi, we have it from Snopes and that is what most libs will accept about most things. What the hell, this link is from Snopes.

You may notice that he also won 4 medals and none of them were Purple Hearts although one was from the Republic of Vietnam

It's real funny how he waited almost 50 years to make this claim.

But Snopes did hold with him and they normally don't do that with people like Guthrie. I suppose you did notice that he wrote the letter in 2009, August which would have been about 2 1/2 years after she became the Speaker of the HOuse.

Nice try to deflect from the letter but those who know realize that attacking the messenger instead of the message is a leaner tactic.

It was sad how Vietnam vets were treated when they returned home for the war, which is why I don't blame our brave soldiers for the two wars that were started by Bush and his people.

I will be right back with the man's resume where you may be able to see that he won almost as many medals as Jon Carry did although none of his are Purple Hearts.

And?
Is the point of this solely to point out that he claims to have been spit upon?
And if so, what is the point of dredging this up now?

Some were treated badly, yes. But not all. This man's personal history is in no way representative of every single Viet Nam vet's experiences.
My husband was a Viet Nam era vet. He was never spit on, harassed or otherwise abused because of his service.

unclear if the guy is speaking figuratively or literally. here is the entire "spitting" passage:

"By the way, while i served in the Army, I was spit on by the same type of lunatics who support you and who you probably supported in the 60's and 70's."

he's not describing any specific incident(s).

OP, what is your point. Anybody can write a letter and make any claim they want to.

The fact that the letter exists does not mean that what it says is true.

BTW, that letter was the rant of an upset toddler.

If Mr. Guthrie spent less time raving about Marxism and so on, perhaps he might have learned how to spell principles.

The "spat upon Vietnam soldier" meme is at least 99% mythical and possibly 100% mythical. There are no contemporaneous newspaper accounts of it happening anywhere, ever. There are also no contemporaneous examples of prosecution for battery, either against spitting protestors or against spat-upon soldiers, which seems a little strange.
