If labor costs rise companies will automate, outsource, and offshore what they can to save a buck. There isn't any reason to artificially raise the min wage.
And what welfare? You can only get food stamps 3 months at a time every three years, but you have to be working or looking to receive it.
How is a teen going to compete for a job if the job is no longer there or if they don't have any experience? Need experience to get a job, but you need the job to gain experience... Sound familiar?
It honestly sounds like you just hate the poor, almost as if there very existence repulses you.
Wait, weren't you the one that created a thread about the sight of pool cleaners upsetting you? Something about the hotel hiring them and you wanted them out of your sight is coming to mind.
There are many jobs that cannot be automated. Like janitorial or cleaning jobs. Or child care--many child care workers make close to minimum wage. Even food servers. The service industry has the highest percentage of low-paid workers.
They will compete and increase prices only up to the point that they price themselves out of the market.
And people will all be taxed higher to pay for fully socialised medicine - a progressive tax which will also ensure that businesses cannot push their prices up too high.
Oh goodness.
Im not gonna even bother answering that. Taxes will have to rise so much that the poor/middle class wouldn't survive!

You are correct, I was generalizing in my comment, not every employer is a horrible profit only person. There are actually good employers out there, heck I even work for a great employer.
