the problem is no one would know if he won, lost or stayed or left. His message is so muddled and nebulous; more than enough latitude to spin his message to fit any situation. If that doesn't work, he simply redefines all those terms to his advantage.

No boots onthe ground means the boots will fly overhead

Firefights are not boots on the ground because the message is, troops are there as advisors. Advisors fighting the enemy are not boots on the ground because the mission isn't to fight the enemy.

No US troops! ah, just NATO troops who are mostly US troops, using US weapons.
NATO is us.

anyone figure out what he meant when he said, 'you can keep your doctor,PERIOD?'

Obama claimed afghanistan was the 'good war'.

Fort hood was workplace violence. See what a good job obama does making problems go away.......... thesaurus in hand!

Well, looking at the news this morning, pulling out of Iraq and now Afghanistan has just proven to the terrorists that if they wait long enough, we'll pull out and they can take the countries over again and start rebuilding the terrorist training bases so they can attack us here in the US again.

Telling the terrorists when we were leaving was a mistake, not making sure the countries were able to provide their own protection before we left was a mistake, believing that the only reason they were fighting us was because we were over there was a mistake.

When military decisions are made for political reasons, it never comes out well.

If we had spent some extra time in Germany after WWI, there might not have been a WWII. If we had finished the job in Gulf War 1, we might not have had to go back for Gulf War 2. When there isn't a clear victory, (Korea), all you do is postpone the second act of the war for a while.

Yeah, I wanted us out of the ME, but there are bigger concerns and realities out there than just "It's Bush's/Cheney's fault".

Obama has no military experience, no diplomatic experience, no foreign policy experience, and because of it, our troops will be back fighting, bleeding and dying in the future after the terrorists have rebuilt their strength.

They knew that they just had to wait us out from the beginning.

As stated in another post on this topic, Obama has no interest in "winning the war" so it isn't going to happen. He has even stated that he has no interest in winning, yet the blind partisans keep declaring that he will.

The only way the US will win this war with Obama in power is to overthrow the president and wage the military's own war.

They will whine if he continues the war.

They will whine if he ends the war.

Just like in Iraq, they will blame Obama for the consequences of a war he didn't start. And they will do their level best to repeat all these same mistakes again so they can blame the NEXT Democrat who has to clean up their mess.

Basically. And conservatives desperately want a terrorist attack on American soil before Nov 2016.

We simply cannot afford more overseas military spending. Like it or not, it's got to end.

He repeated the same mistakes in Libya and Syria so yeah, I hold out little hope for the next president.
