One of the unpleasant surprises of recent years has been the persistence of discredited neocon "thinkers" in the top ranks of American foreign policy circles. We do need more of a counterbalance. People make fun of think-tanks, but they actually end up setting the terms of a lot of public policy debates in America. Their reports - credible or not - end up having an effect on lawmakers and their staffers. When groups like the Heritage Foundation or AEI started churning out pro-Iraq War propaganda in 2002, it had an effect.
So something like this could be helpful in the future.

That's very true, and all those pre-digested ''policy papers'' also filter down as ''talking points'' which are endlessly repeated by FOX, and all the RWNJ bloviators, only to be parroted again by the "base" on the blogosphere, "talk radio" and forums just like this one. Of course these same ''think tanks'' all depend on funding, often from right wing billionaires with an agenda of their own. And as was the case with Ron Paul's controversial ''newsletters'', oftentimes the ''message'' gets shaped by the ''money''.
Considering Ron Paul's isolationism, his grandiose-sounding ''Foreign Policy Institute'' should fit nicely inside a closet somewhere! BTW, has Paul ever been anywhere outside the country besides Canada!!

You didn't say anything, yet again. Why give credence to someone ignorant of the difference between non intervention like our founders preached and isolationism?
Truth is treason to some.
I'll suggest that it's not the educated people who support Ron Paul. No. No they don't.
What would you know about educated people? Judging from your lack of substance posts in this forum, if you have hung around educated people, nothing rubbed off.
But yea team!

You are very wrong. I have a master's degree and I work with many who do as well. We were all RP supporters. Ron Paul has been the ONLY politician to talk about foreign policies of today within the context of it's history and how past actions have present day motives/actions. Agree or disagree with him, his approach is political SCIENCE, not the dumb ***** policy that masks itself as patriotism or exceptionalism. Painting those, who think differently than you, as uneducated or somehow inferior is typical of what you accuse us of being.
