"With campaign season over, you're not likely to hear stars bringing up taxes at this weekend's Academy Awards show. But the tax man ought to come out and take a bow anyway. Of the nine "Best Picture" nominees in 2012, for example, five were filmed on location in states where the production company received financial incentives, including "The Help" (in Mississippi) and "Moneyball" (in California). Virginia gave $3.5 million to this year's Oscar-nominated "Lincoln."
No wonder Hollywood loves Obama with all the tax breaks. Cronyism at it's best or worse.
In defense of Hollywood (I can't believe I said that), they are welcome to the tax breaks they can get, just like any other entity. And it's been going on since long before 0bama. Taking legitimate tax breaks isn't the problem.
Heck yeah cities have been giving tax breaks to these folks for years. It's all legal. Whatcha gonna do when Hulkamania runs wild? Drink your milk and take your vitamins is all you can do.

How is it that Obama is responsible for what Mississippi, California and Virginia do?

Would you prefer that they film in Canada?
The trend for the last 20 yrs or so is to film in Vancouver or Toronto, for example "Moonstruck" a very New York movie was filmed mostly in Toronto being passed off as NYC.
I bet if you asked the locals in Mississippi town where they filmed
"The Help" did they mind the money being brought into their area, they would tell you they welcomed it.
In addition to bringing revenue into the area the locals are cast as extras and paid for it.
They had to suspend it in our state a couple years ago because the folks appointed by the state to run it were caught stealing some of the tax credit money. Not sure where it's at now. Like every other government agency the looters get their hands on the money and take some for themselves.
I want to get someone to pay me 3 million to make my next film in their state. Where do I sign up?
