I love being married, and I don't believe someone else's marriage, gay or straight, could ruin the bond I have with my husband. How selfish can you be?

[quote=TotallyTam;28395803] Most LGBT people I know are pretty family-oriented and want to adopt and raise children. So they cannot physically make a baby---so what? Plenty of LGBT couples would love to adopt and raise children that their hetero counterparts cannot (or do not want). But look at the big stink that follows when gay people want to adopt kids? quote]

What about the right of little babies and children to have a female mother and a male father? That is how nature set it up. Don't they have any rights?

How about just going back to the time when private lives were kept private? Most people don't want to hear about it or even think about gay activities. Its offensive, its in our faces all the time now. Personally, it just makes my skin crawl and I am not the only one.

Plus, how much is this homosexual marriage business going to cost us tax payers? More homos collecting 'spouse ' benifits?

Never in human history has there been gay marriage. Now... why is that?

because they fear it will ruin their religious rules for marriage, like their rampant divorce(also a sin), infidelity, marriage for money/property and 5 min marriages in vegas didn't do it already

This is the fear I am concerned about, people.

First, based on this, we should stay away from computers, medicine, science, technology, cars, etc. since they are not natural and they have changed the way we do things in life.

I guess this assumes that all heterosexual people want to be parents and/or are good parents. It rejects the reality that some heterosexual people end up giving their offspring to adoption authorities because they can't raise them or don't want them.

Adoption agencies will not stop offering adoption services to hetero couples. But homo couples can also adopt. What is there to fear?

And again, religion is one thing, state is another.

What accept someone who is way different from I? There's too much of the my way is the only way mentality. Something you'd expect to see on the grade school play ground by children that haven't been taught better. It doesn't belong in a civilized mature society. Imagine if heterosexuals were in the minority and not allowed to marry because it wasn't considered the "norm." I would personally feel discriminated against and that my civil rights were violated. I will shout it from the rooftops again. ACCEPT RESPECT LIVE AND LET LIVE.

And what about all the children in the foster care system who do/did have a mother and a father and who were abused and/or neglected? Don't they have a right to live in a home with loving parents - even if those loving parents are two moms or two dads?

I'm pretty sure that most same sex couples would love for their private lives to be private. Once they all get the same benefits that straight couples get, and don't have to fight tooth and nail for their relationships to be validated, then the fight will be over and they can live their lives and raise their families just like any straight couple.

It will stop being "in your face" when the fight is over. Something to look forward to, 'eh?

And, for the record, I find your use of the word "homo" and your talk about your "skin crawling" to be way more offensive than two people of the same sex marrying and raising a family. In fact, on the "offensive meter," it isn't even close.

And what "gay activities" are you hearing about? The same sex weddings that are taking place now in nine states and the District of Columbia?

Or, are you referring to specific sexual acts? Because if that is what you mean by "gay activities," it has been my experience from participating in these threads, that the ONLY people who bring up the most intimate - and private - part of a same sex relationship are the ignorant and hateful bigots. I don't believe I have EVER seen a gay person on City Data talk about that aspect of their lives; they do talk about the love they feel for their partners and for their love of family and the desire to raise children with the person they love, often the most unwanted ones that have been rejected by straight couples.

And I don't think I have EVER seen people from the "straight" community who support marriage equality (like myself) talk about private "gay activities." I have, though, on numerous occasions seen specific "gay activities" mentioned by homophobic bigots.

Just so we're straight (no pun intended), the quote made above had my moniker (TotallyTam) highlighted in black, but those were NOT my words. Those words were typed by "Nurse Bishop." Whose quotes are whose is all hosed up on this thread now. Just wanted to clear that up----carry on.

I'm sorry. I quoted Nurse Bishop and when I previewed the post before submitting it, it had Nurse Bishop at the top.

I don't have a clue as to what is going on but I will see if I can edit that somehow.

No, Nurse Bishop should most definitely be the one who gets credit for that offensive post.

Again, sorry - I'll see if I can fix that.

Just a quick add, just before I hit preview, I glanced at this page and there was another name listed as being quoted, in addition to your own. I deleted it.

Something weird is going on.
