First of all, liberals are not the left. Liberals are the center. The reason we think liberals are the left is because our political culture is so badly skewed to the right that the left--the real left--is completely excluded from mainstream media in the US. Have you ever heard of Michael Albert, Alan Maas, Christian Parenti, Chris Hedges, Stephanie Coontz, Manning Marable or Mike Davis? I bet not. All these people represent the US left, and they are almost completely excluded from the media.
Second of all, there are no left-wing equivalents of Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Michael Savage or Glenn Beck out there in the mainstream. Not one. Part of it is the exclusion of the left I mentioned above. But part of it is because left-leaning audiences just do not respond to the type of loudmouthed, in-your-face bullying these folks specialize in.
Tea Party members brought loaded guns to protests, and nothing happened to them. But when Occupy protesters so much as stepped over police cordons, they were clubbed, maced, and hauled off to jail.

You enjoy flinging insults. We all enjoy the things we do that relieve stress. So if you are telling us how much you enjoy flinging insults at others, and yet liberals posting on this thread have repeatedly said they try to refrain from such behavior, and indeed have refrained from such behavior on this thread, how exactly can you claim it's "the tool-of-choice" of the left? Such a claim makes no sense.
Personally, I think "sheep" and "mental disease" are very apt descriptions of today's liberals. I've never seen such a large monolith of subservient retardation in my life. I see no reason to curtail the truth.

You used to be reasonable. Now many of your posts seem very angry. It might be helpful to remember that the people you disagree with aren't stupid or lazy or whatever other negative characteristic you want to apply. The people you disagree with are just like you. Some may not be as smart, some may be smarter. Some may not have the same educational background, some might have different jobs, different home lives, different priorities. The fact of the matter is that we all have a different perspective that we bring to the table. And treating those with different perspectives with respect really shouldn't be a challenge. It should be a given.
You and I have frequently engaged in debates, and I've always been interested in why you have the perspective that you have. I've looked for what we've had in common, to get a sense of where you're coming from, what the basis of your opinions is, and what your priorities are.
I may at times be impatient, and frustrated with your posts, but that's because I don't always understand what you are basing your beliefs on. But I try, because that's the standard I hold myself to.
You can't be played for a fool if you support your arguments intelligently and sincerely. The people you are having the conversation with aren't shooting bullets, they are offering up facts and logic to support their arguments. Yes, sometimes you will simply have to agree to disagree. But that's not playing the fool, or being played for a fool.
Insults shut down conversations. The exchange stops, and the animosity escalates. Insulting the people you disagree with is simply irrational. Because, like it or not, they are part of the process that determines the policies and direction of our government. Even if they don't agree with your arguments, you are still at an advantage if they understand your arguments. So a civil conversation that promotes mutual understanding is what we all have to try for.

I have been doing better on no name calling but have a slip every now and then. A couple of things really get me agitated at other posters, one starting several threads a day that fall under the category of who gives a sh**. And those who knowingly start another thread on the same subject because the original is not going their idealogical way. I have noticed and being fair that those that do this are on mostly the left.
After they start the other thread their buddies on the left come rushing in spewing the talking points and thinking they accomplished something. I say man up stay in the thread even if your position taking a beating. I am going to work on not letting that bother me so much that I start name calling and being insulting.

It is not nearly as obvious and overwhelming as you may want to believe. Whenever the topic of "is this forum more liberal or conservative" comes up, and I do a count of threads on the front page, the conservative POV is overwhelmingly represented. I have done this several times now. I'd do it again today, but the last time the mods deleted my count, and it took a while to do, so I'm not wasting my time again.
