I was sick when i read this story this morning. Sick to my stomach, thinking of those two adorable children.

But with the mentally unstable, they are exactly that, you never quite know, when they will snap, and boy snap she did. Those children should not have been around this grandmother, at all.

I have known some mentally ill people in the past, problem is, most of the time, they don't believe they have a problem. This is so sad, most metnally ill people, don't even know they are ill, therefore they never ever get treatment. Those children should not have been around this gradmother, unless in a monitored setting.

We always talk about the gun issues, well what about the mental aspect of those who kill.

Certainly, but the impulsiveness of the mentally unstable and accessibility of firearms make for a deadly combination. Knives involve a more physical act than just pulling a trigger which many would find dissuading. Poisons take time to work, which may be long enough for someone else to come to their aide, or for the mentally unstable individual to clear their head and seek help.

A) Was the gun legal? If so, how long has she owned it?
It appears to have belonged to her husband.

I would have stolen her gun long ago and chucked in the river and there is no way in heck I would have ever let her near those kids and I would have NEVER added her to the list of people that can pick up the kids from daycare. You have to make a list of those that are authorized to do so.

The gun is rather academic, this time of year there is a million ways to kill those kids especially with the temperatures this low and their ages.

I think you're missing the point of WHY "we" post whenever someone shoots a Bad Guy.

The media, the government and the anti-gun types make a concerted effort to exploit every instance that a gun is used during the commission of an illegal act. Conversely, they conspicuously FAIL to report on the instances in which a gun is used to thwart a crime.

All "we" are doing is ensuring that people understand that a gun isn't an inherently evil object. It's a tool, and like every tool, it can be used improperly. "We" are just doing the job that the media and those who represent you are intentionally failing to do.

I might believe that, if I wasn't familiar with your posting history.

How sad. Thing is, if you're going to have a firearm, LOCK IT UP.
