Is it self loathing or just hypocrisy which makes these men so vocal?

Self-loathing and guilt I think. I believe it's also the reason so many gay men go into the Catholic church. In the years ahead we'll hopefully look back and wonder why we make such a big deal about this one aspect of the way people are born. I guess the same could be said about congenital and intellectual differences, in the past those people were shunned and thankfully we as a society have, for the most part, moved beyond that.

For the most part---really? I don't think so. As long as there are no marriage equality laws and acceptance it is just a minority of folks who feel like we do.

Sorry, I don't think my post was clear, I was talking about moving past prejudice with regard to birth defects and intellectual deficiencies. I agree that hate and prejudice against sexual orientation and gender identity is very prevalent.
