Want more cities like Detroit? Elect liberal governments who tend to create such "paradises".

Over the last twenty-five years, reported Major Crimes in Seattle have shown a steady downward trend. The decline was continuous from 1988 to 2000. For a few years early in the new millennium, reported Major Crimes increased, only to begin falling again.
Yeah, Riverview was the first place I lived at when I lived there, right on the river really. I'd drive to Groose Isle just to see the super nice houses, I lived just down from the non tole bridge.
My car was broken into and vandalized twice even there though. Native Detroiters would say the rednecks lived down river. West Bloomfield and Bloomfield hills are nice, got that right. Inkster was fine, Livonia, etc.
And there are nice nieghborhoods in Detroit. You'll drive through 5 blocks of burned out crack houses, then come to what amounts to a walled off community of manacured yards and houses restored to their former glory in midtown and downtown. It was like driving through the twilight zone.
My mom lives in Boston-Edison..so yea, there are some incredibly beautiful sections of the city.
I'm really surprised in a way that you got vandalized in Riverview although Downriver white folks are a bit more hardscrabble than the ones Upriver. LOL

I was very close to Boston-Edison, just slightly north of it. Boston Edison is nice but also had some weird rules, I think because it was a historic area you couldn't make renovations or something like that without a permit. Also because it was a historic district, it was also 3-4 times as expensive by house than my neighborhood.
Only ways Detroit and Atlanta are alike is that they both have black majority populations. Been to both cities and Atlanta is alot better than Detroit. I mean come on Atlanta has the 17th largest economy of a city in the world."nearly 43% of adults in the city of Atlanta have college degrees, compared to 27% in the nation as a whole and 41% in Boston". Without the recession no one would even try to compare Atlanta and Detroit.

Oh yea...keeps the riff raff out. My dad bought that home in 1965 and my mom got it in the divorce. She's put about 35k in it over the last 10 years.
But you're right...the HOA in B.E. is no joke. Lol...you don't wanna run afoul of the rules. Great place to live though.
