HICKORY N.C. – One man was shot dead on Saturday morning after he allegedly broke into a residence. The Hickory Police Department received a call from the owner of a home located in the 1700 block of 14th Street NE, according to a news release from the department. The caller stated he had shot an intruder during a break-in.

The homeowner should have let the dud take what ever he wanted....and made coffee and thanked him for not hurting him.....maybe even a little extra cash to boot!
I'm assuming this is posted because of the ongoing gun debates but I'm curious what this actually has to do with the debate. Did he shoot him 52 times with an AR-15? If the guy mentally handicapped and wouldn't have had a gun otherwise? Was it purchased at a gun show because he couldn't get it normally due to failing a background check? If none of those apply then i'm pretty sure...no...completely, absolutely 100% sure the homeowner would still have been able to protect themselves.

Are you saying that the CBS Evening news should carry every homeowner shooting? Isn't that what local evening news is for...Homeowner shootings, fires, and local meth lab drug busts?
