I'm glad you support America's multibillion dollar annual contribution to the Bin Ladens and other finacial patrons of the Tailban, Al-Qaeda and the Islamic Brotherhood. Nothing like that 5 dollar a gallon Saudi Soda in the old Gas Tank!
Actually you can thank Obama policies for supporting higher energy costs by blocking keystone pipe line, increasing draconian regulations on the energy industries, etc...

"The money would fund research on "breakthrough" technologies such as batteries for electric cars and biofuels made from switch grass or other materials. Researchers also would look to improve use of natural gas as a fuel for cars and trucks."

Why would this be a problem? Wouldn't it be to the country's benefit to reduce its reliance on oil, which is after all a non-renewable resource?

Absolutely, as long as the government isn't funding it. It's not the job of the government.

It most certainly is the job of government when it comes to helping us become energy independent and it`s been that way for a long time.
