In the neighborhoods you are describing you are lucky to make it to 21.

False. If the USA was so bad for being poor, you would not see so many poor clamouring to get into the USA. They'd go to one of those countries some think are better.

Being poor in the USA means you will most likely have air conditioners, cable television, cell phones and a whole lot more.

A huge chunk of our poverty is imported poverty and that's also where the sky high birth rates are, they find it quite good to be poor here.

We aren't the only country that has modern electronics. My cousin in Russia has everything you mentioned. The USA has a reputation for being a rich country and people that haven't traveled think that it is, but I can think of many countries that is is better to be poor in. I can't think of any that are better to be rich in aside from Hong Kong and Singapore.

There is no poverty in America.

Rather, I don't think poverty means what you think it does...

We don't see poor people from other developed countries trying to get into the US. If we did, we'd have a big problem along the Canadian border. Poorer people from third-world nations end up in all sorts of developed or more-developed countries - even Egypt has a problem with illegal immigration from Sudan. Russia has a lot of illegal migration from countries like Tajikistan and some other former Soviet republics. Migrants drown regularly trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea from North Africa into Italy, Malta, Spain, even Greece. Migrants drown trying to sail from Indonesia to Christmas Island, Australia. And so on.

We have tent cities in the US along with a homeless population, so, that's even a step below those sorts of permanent structures.
