Personally I don't think she's an idiot but I think she's a bona fide partisan hack who is more than happy to deliberately misrepresent and misinterpret things in order to put forth her ideology. She's a left wing version of Sean Hannity who even as a conservative I cannot respect due to his unrelenting partisanship even when it goes beyond reason.
I read Maddow's article on Justice Scalia over the VRA and it was indeed sheer idiocy. But I don't think it was that because Maddow is stupid, I think she was in perfect command of the facts but then purposely distorted them because she the facts to further her politics. The actual writing was quite competent and skilled, but the points she made were fundamental flaws of reasoning, which tells me they were deliberate.
The problem when you do that is that you appear to be an idiot to someone who doesn't share your ideology because you fall to the "how could you not understand that simple point, what are you some kind of moron" criticism.

I don't remember ever calling any Republican an "idiot," just not my style. However, I do understand your point. I like Maddow's perspective and that she is so liberal. How many other equally liberal folks are there to watch on TV political talk shows?
