If we are talking about examples of garbled, incoherent English; no one and I mean no one, ever in the public eye can compete with Sara Palin. I have read transcripts of statements made by her that are just complete gibberish. I mean an entire paragraph that has no discernible meaning at all. Now I doan want cha y'all refutiating me now!
But we are not. This thread is about Obama, not Palin or Bush.
In one single month of trucking my wife and myself were in over one hundred American States.
I'll bet that really confuses you EH????
Not me, I've done that before too, not as many as you did though.
I must drive like a grandma.
Fleet mechanics have a word for people who drive like you do. HAMMER!
I'm no Obama fan, but what he said is basically informal familiar lingo in the USA. Everyone who is American understands what he said. How many do you "have"... may be grammatically correct, but - How many do you "got" is informal familiar American syntax. Bush used it also.
How can you possibly make an excuse for such hideous grammar?
There are no excuses for an adult to ask, "how many do you got."

I think it's the same thing as saying, "I'm stupid, so why shouldn't my president be stupid, too?"
But that's exactly why it IS so important for our leaders to use proper grammar. If Obama can't speak properly, how do you think we will be able to teach our kids proper grammar?
Did you have as much a problem with the leader of the last administration and all his jumbled words, and mispronunciations?
In a country where the general level of grammer is just so bad, I don't think anyone should be slingling stones.
Some of my favorite American grammer destructions are, "Where you at"? or for the better spoken, "Where are you at"? LOL
We say, "Where are you", here in Canada where we actually speak English.
"Yous" never fail to amuse. "Where yous at"?.
Did no one ever explain to Americans the you is the plural of you? LOL
"Y'all" is used even among the highly educated. Dr. Phil uses it every other sentence.

Excellent post. It is a new low to make excuses for a president's bad grammar. And if I were the president of Harvard, I would shudder to hear such language from one of my students in an international setting.
