no wonder they're going broke.

Alameda County supervisors have really taken to heart the adage that government should run like a business — rewarding County Administrator Susan Muranishi with the Wall Street-like wage of $423,664 a year.

For the rest of her life.

So? It's exactly what you righties have been screaming about for years.

The boss gets massive, disproportionate compensation and benefits. Just like any business. That's how you want government to be run, right? Like a business -- because, you know, it's so much more efficient and effective. And you worship at the feet of other CEOs who make more in 10 minutes than his/her employees make in a week ...

Sounds perfect to me. A conservative's dream.

400k is a lot of money, though hardly a Wall Street type wage.

It appears you're having a problem seeing the private vs. public aspect of all this.

I'll give you an "A" for effort though.

But Alameda county is a Dem stronghold since 1956. They've turned Republican now ?
Nice how you managed to blame this on Republicans.

Didn't blame it on anyone, did I? (Go ahead ... I'll wait while you re-read.)

And, uh, yeah, I totally get the difference between public and private. Which is why I've always opposed the conservative wet dream of privatizing all government functions. Now, let's see, why do I have to oppose it? Because it's one of the most prominent positions of the conservative movement.

Conservatives: "Government should be run like a business!"

Liberals: "Government is a public enterprise, so it can't be run like a private enterprise!"

01Snake: "It appears you're having a problem seeing the private vs. public aspect of all this."

Jmqueen: "Not me, bud. But I see you've got that projection thing down pat!"

The big difference is that business runs on profit and CEOs get better pay with increased profit.
Where is the profit here ? Oh..I forgot. This is government so they don't even need to break even on revenue.

The saying "Government should run like a business" is based on accounting. Don't spend more than you make. When revenue goes down you cut back. When you have a surplus you invest it, not spend it frivolously.

It's not about CEO pay but you are only focused on that it seems.

Since when? Recent history is littered with examples of CEOs getting lavish "golden parachute" payouts despite poor performance.

No. Kidding.

That's what we liberals have been saying for years. Y'all are only now just getting it?

Oh, I see. You pick and choose which parts of Holy Capitalismâ„¢ apply to your theory when it suits you. Got it.
