That's unfortunate. We have severe problems in this country with gun violence and the gun control measures should only be the tip of the iceberg. We have to change our entire culture as it pertains to our outlook on guns and violence and murder. Gun control is the bandaid while the major work gets started.
Sadly, like most things with this country, we get locked in BS arguments and turn everything into political nonsense and we don't get better as a society.

Yes, I was very pleased to happen across these poll results whilst browsing various media headlines yesterday.
Today, CNN (go figure) is fretting that anti-gun neurotics in Congress waited too long in ramming their dishonest, anti-Constitutional legislative acts through both chambers and to the Executive desk for a signature.
But universal background checks, arguably the worst tenet of recent anti-2A legislation, remains on the table nonetheless.

Yes, I agree completely--only once gun owners and proponents of the Second Amendment can be culturally equated to sociopaths and pedophiles can we finally be free of this horrid culture!

I disagree about about gun control being a band aid to curb gun violence, but I do agree that we need to change how our culture views violence and gore. We are a culture that celebrates and glorifies violnce. The problem is, no ne is interested in fixing those problems. If they are mentioned in the media among the talking heads, the other guy says " oh yes, yes, that is a problem to, but lets get back to tlking about guns"
Missed opportunty of you ask me.

Kill it, NRA--we know you can handle it.
Don't just rely on the NRA, cutting a check and calling it a day isn't good enough this time. We as gun owners, as citizens, need to mobilize and get involved.

Haha, of course I wouldn't rely solely on the NRA to gut UBC legislation; rather, I was just hoping to provoke left-wing spazoids into splashing this forum with hysterical tirades against the NRA and gun owners in general.
No, the only thing that can gut the UBC law are legislators, some of whom, sadly, can't necessarily be trusted not to lend political support to an innocuous-sounding piece of legislation that a majority-party (at least in one legislative chamber) may support. My Senators are two red-state Democrats who, frankly, should never be trusted to break too sharply away from their party's agenda. My Congressman, however, is a sure vote against it--hopefully the House can kill this atrocity if it passes the Senate.
The grabbers should be force marched into the sea en-mass. All of them.
