It's not free, its paid through taxes, but the upside is that you don't have to worry about access to healthcare, being out of network, co-pays, deductibles, reaching $ limits, or worry about not having the money to pay for expensive treatments.

Canada doesn't claim to have free health care.

if you actually talk to Canadians and look at polling in Canada their health care system is very popular. And it's not free; its paid through taxes. And like others have said they don't get medical bills.

The US Health Care system is one of the worst in the developed world. FACT.

Exactly, we know it is paid out of our taxes. We also know that it is a far more equitable system than allowing some people to have no access (insurance denials, no insurance etc.), or allowing people to go bankrupt because they can't afford to pay for services.

I do not know of 1 Canadian who would trade our system for your system. To me that speaks volumes.

Canada has free healthcare? It's news to me...why didn't I get the memo?
Any hint of dismantling our healthcare system would result in riots that would make the storming of the Bastille look like a yoga class. We had US-type healthcare half a century ago. We didn't like it.

Yeah you just have to worry about getting put on waiting lists for certain procedures. But I guess having to wait months for an MRI or pet scan when your GP suspects you may have cancer is a small price to pay so that a bunch of ignorant American liberals who really don't know much about the Canadian healthcare system can speak about it like they do when arguing about healthcare issues.

But depending upon the drain of the system by the lesser or non-productive folks, the caps on wages for doctors and other health professionals, one does have to worry if the treatments that can keep them healthy or make them healthy will even be available. Of course if this country just keeps printing money, then this would be a non-issue, at least for a while.

That can't possibly be true. If that was true then none of the border hospitals just south of the Canadian border would put any money into trying to lure Canadians to come south for treatment. There would be zero demand for such service if we had the "worst in the developed world." And zero demand would mean no money spent on such advertising.

A) Show me where that happens;
B) You have to wait in the US, and they may not pay your bills when it's over.
