My daughter had that same lesson in 5th grade, so it's still the same here. I think that's about right. Sex and anatomy lessons just are not appropriate at the younger ages. You will never convince me that it is necessary.
Too bad you didnt actually take the time to find out what the curriculum is actually going to be before having a major kneejerk reaction.

If you read the article it said parents can opt their kids out.

Why are you taking extremes here ? Maybe you'd want your kid in the class but I wouldn't want mine.
Sex ed in kindergarden is not the same as learning your ABCs and numbers.

They have not publicized either the curriculum or any lesson plans.
It's all been high level general idea talk.

Do you think its ok for children not to know the proper names for their body parts?
Speaking of taking extremes, you have indulged in that quite a bit on this thread.

And children need to learn about safety in sexual situations. The average age of child molestation victims is 9.

So go on and opt your child out, put them in a religious school. They will not be protected, and they will not know how to deal with the situation when they are bullied by their molester to keep it a secret.

You think I didn't teach that myself ? I don't need government doing my job as a parent.

Go after the parents that don't parent.

Good. They should be able to opt out, since it is controversial. But the option should be there.

Overall I'd say there should be no controversy then. If someone isn't comfortable with it, opt out and let every other kid learn. Just know your kid is going to learn it from the other kids, and it probably won't be as accurate.

That was the 2009 curriculum. The new addition is the anatomy , and stranger danger part in kindergarten.

I did link to a new story with quotes from a CPS employee on the new curriculum.
