The honest politician wishes to do what's best for the people. The honest politician recognizes the need for compromise and recognizes that the things which gets the best result may not be congruent with the beliefs of the political parties. The honest politician does not take bribes from wealthy interests, but rather tries to represent the interests of the voters.

There aren't that many honest politicians out there, but if the hard working person wanted to run for office what would they have to do to not only beat the incumbents, but convince uninformed voters to vote?

I am asking this because I come from a geographic region tends to be much more corrupt than average (Miami/Florida).

I don't think they could win. It's all about marketing. You have to convince others that you're going to do what they want done. An honest person would know that most of what they were promising would never come to fruition and that would come through when they talked.

It would be impossible.. In order to win an election on the national stage in this country, you have to sell your soul to those who actually run it. An honest person would never do that.

In the USA!!!!! It's impossible for an honest person to be a politician. The system is corrupt from the bottom to the top and through and through.

You know, I hear so many Americans saying the USA is the best country in the world. I disagree completely and entirely but I have to add something I think is very important to point out.

I think the American people are are among the best of the best people in the world. Just think about the amazing things that have been acomplished in the USA by Americans dispite the just unspeakably horrible governence of the country.

The amazing thing about it is that this corrupt self seeking system that operates at all levels has been the defining characteristic of American public affairs since the very beginning of the republic.
