With growing expectations in recent weeks that a gay male athlete for a major professional sports team in the United States will soon come out publicly for the first time, the leagues have begun exploring ways to accommodate and respond to such a landmark announcement.
The National Hockey League and its players announced Thursday what appears to be the most comprehensive measure by a major men’s league in support of gay athletes. The National Football League is working with gay advocacy groups to smooth the way for acceptance and to discuss how to prepare for the moment when one of its players publicly discusses his homosexuality.
The N.F.L. player Brendon Ayanbadejo, who has become something of an unofficial spokesman for the acceptance of gay players, has suggested repeatedly that there are a number of closeted active players in several sports who might eventually come out.
It's pathetic that they have to "gear up" to announce something that doesn't affect anyone else, just to handle the imbecilic responses from a bunch of genetically inferior hicks who are so concerned about what goes on in other peoples' bedrooms.
WHY must someone disclose what they do in the bedroom? Keep your sexual activities to yourself, no one really wants to hear about it.
I certainly wish this had been the case with Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, and all the other philanderers. Talk about throwing your heterosexuality in the face of others!!!!
Ecstatic to see the NHL taking the lead. I believe they'll be the first pro league to have a player come out. Most of the credit will rightfully go to Brendan Burke (RIP) and the rest of the Burke family.

The Denver Broncos have a yearly Broncos Wives Food Drive. I'm thinking about protesting this disgusting event where the Broncos publicly disclose the sexual activities that go in in their bedrooms.
