Chief Rabbi in France Resigns Under Cloud - WSJ.com

As if being caught isn't bad enough, M. Bernheim had the gall to attempt to turn the tables and pretend that the man whose ideas he stole, Jean-Francois Lyotard, was the true plagiarist and he the victim.

And then, when that was exposed as a bald-faced lie, Rabbi Bernheim attempted to shift the blame to his assistant.

Hardly what French Jewry needs just at the moment: a chief rabbi who is an admitted liar, plagiarist and coward.

One would think that he could have come up with a homophobic rant on his own at least:

"The chief rabbi in France resigned Thursday, days after admitting that he didn't hold a philosophy degree as claimed and wasn't the author of some of his writings—including an essay against same-sex marriage that had earned the praise of Pope Benedict XVI last year."

People do bad things, being a religious leader doesn't exempt people from doing monstrous things.

Just ask Jack Schaap and his 12 year old victim.

The Chief Rabbi of France is - or should be - a rather more consequential and authoritative person than some two-bit televangelist huckster. The comparison is really very stupid.
