Or the cameras could be passive, like bank cameras, and only get reviewed when something happens.. Simply having them, doesnt mean they need to be watched 24/7
Yes, most security cameras are only reviewed when there is the possibility of having useful information. It is the modern equivalent of closing the barn door after the horse has escaped and you need to go out and get the horse. Having an intellegence behind the camera in real time is better but expensive. In 10 or 20 years when an AI system like the HAL 9000 of 2001 movie is available and it won't be expensive then we can monitor everyone 24/7 from sea to shining sea.
Sorry, maybe compared to you the GOP is a progressive party but not to most Americans. The current GOP is quite conservative. It is 100% against taxes and hostile to the social safety net, poverty programs, regulations, pollution control and worker safety. It is the antithesis of progressive.
