A senior week "prank" that involved flying the Confederate flag in a public high school parking lot left three Minnesota students banned from walking with their fellow graduates at a commencement ceremony Wednesday night.
Seniors Dan Fredlin and Justin Thompson, both 18, and Joey Snyder, 17, were suspended and restricted from the diploma ceremony after arriving at John F. Kennedy High School in Bloomington, Minn., Tuesday with the flags affixed to their cars.

I would sue. While the Confederate battle flag is a disgusting symbol of low class redneckism and offensive to everybody except inbred rednecks and other assorted Jerry Springer white trash, the 1st Amendment says that the government (in this case a public school) cannot tell you not to display it unless they ban the display of ALL flags and symbols including that of the United States. And that is how it should be.
What's wrong with a Confederate flag? It's a general sign of rebel spirit, and very special in the South.
Just another thing that the PC police have decided "means something" and must be banned as hate speech.
I hope these families give the school a thrashing.
Wait...was that sound of the ACLU coming to defend the students' freedom of expression?
No, I thought not.
I am sure if it were a flag from another country and students were celebrating "their culture" then the ACLU would have been front and center to their defense.
It is scary how Freedom of Speech and Expression are not guaranteed anymore and often fall by the wayside-most often for pc reasons.
Freedom of speech is just that- I don't have to like what you say. As a matter of fact it can "offend" me. And just because it "offends" me does not mean that your right shuld be taken away

The school can enact policies to prevent disruption. By your reasoning, they should be able to go to school wearing tshirts with pornographic images on them, or displaying curse words.
In fact, one of the seniors that got banned from graduation when I was in HS, got banned for posting up pornographic images in the halls.
They're not even from the South? They obviously just wanted to stir up some trouble.
Much like the ruckus that was caused when a teacher threw away a Mexican flag a few months ago. (Granted, it was the student's property and shouldn't have been thrown out).

Yes and if I recall the ACLU was there to rush to that student's defense.
