No, I am not in favor of overplaying the race card, and I'm white myself, but the fact is, the only reason anyone believes this is because Obama is black and has a foreign-sounding name. He's stated and demonstrated multiple times that he is a Christian (and no, being a Christian is not all about opposing abortion and gay marriage).

If he had the same background as dumbo does, yes, and with much less hesitation. Dumbo's mixed-race is a shield from criticism, in the main.
It is his skin color, his name, and the fact that his father was Muslim, and he received at least part of his education in a Muslim school in a foreign country. None of that matters, of course, given the facts. "People" is probably giving too much credit to the Obama-is-Muslim crowd though. Pumpkin-brained morons would be more fitting. So your question would more appropriately be: Would pumpkin-brained morons still say Obama is a Muslim if he was (should be "were") white? And, of course, that is an easier question to answer.
Which, like his skin color, was not something he chose.
I know. But that won't stop deranged people from calling him a muslim. If his name was Leon Washington, they would come up with a whole of other things to call him.
So true, he's half white. He has a muslim name, his dad was muslim and he went to a muslim grade school when young. Just maybe that could bring up some suspicions, until you find when in Chicago his paster was Jeramia Wright of the First Congregation United Church of Christ. (Jeramia Wright is a whole different story)

No, then people would be free to say he's just an bumbling idiot.
Probably. And the name. I'm sorry, though, if Obama was actually a Muslim, my opinion of him wouldn't change. He has a clear voting record to judge from that would be more accurate than any conclusions you can come up with on the simple fact that he is Muslim. Same with any assumptions you can come up with based on the fact that he is Christian. Nearly every person in the federal government is a Christian.
And look at Cat Stevens. Clearly white as they come. Clearly non-violent. Clearly a Muslim.
I'd rather have Cat Stevens as president, too.
