Al Qaida is a worldwide terror organization. Nothing happened this week that would come close to surprising them. They can pull off a large scale terror attack here ANYTIME they want, and you can best believe that they'll be much harder to catch than these two Chechen fools were. Y

One shouldn't mistake their hardcore, skilled terrorists with the few clowns we've caught like Richard Reid.

Al Qaida managed to hijack 4 airplanes and pull off an impeccably planned and coordinated attack. They took years to plan it. So if you're silly enough to think that they went to school this week, then you're out of your mind.
The problem with your argument is they don't have "years" to sit around and plan these things now as they are on the run and being hunted down since that airplane attack. All you have left are these "clowns" who blow up some ball bearings and nails. It does the job though as we saw and shut down the entire city and caused plenty of carnage.

I'm very saddened and upset to find out the FBI was informed of this recent dangerous terrorist 2 years ago from the Russian government and still let him and his brother get away with this. Very very sad that our intelligence agencies seem to be lacking common sense and followup. This latest terrorist attack never should have happened and it's things like this that are now making it clear why successful terrorist attacks seem to be increasing in the last few years.

Sometimes we still don't.
Ft. Hood for a case in point.

Could you imagine the furor if the FBI got his green card taken away from him and deported? Or if the FBI followed him? The liberals would have a fit. He'd go on Daily Kos or HuffPo and share his sob story and the libs would make him out to be a martyr.

I agree it is disturbing but unlike Russia the FBI can't deal forcefully with potential threats if folks haven't committed a crime.

They are not real terrorist attacks. They are common acts of criminality. Criminality is becoming normalized. When you have government that clearly ignores domestic and international law...there is a trickle down effect...If the leaders are not legit. The populace in time will become increasingly criminal. These attacks are not really based in ideology - they are generated out of human hate and hate for humanity. Whether it be the Aurora shooter or the Boston bombers...HATE like a cancer caused this illness.

Just like with Hasan. Can't do anything until something happens.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
