I think it is more of some posters being thoughtful.
For instance, the case of an infant brought illegally into this country. Are you including that group? I do not consider an 'infant' as being capable of breaking the law. Immigration specialists can list lots of such examples that do not fit neatly into your mindset.
Same for those whom apply for legal immigration. I believe we have quotas, such as the number of those who may immigrate from such-and-such a country, to quotas on the number of certain types of professional immigrants allowed in (doctors, etc). I believe that the various organizations in this country (AMA for example) has lobbyist that want to limit the number of medical doctors from, say, India, although we have a doctor shortage in this country.
I certainly do not have 'answers'. However, I do know that simplified questions such as yours really cannot be answered in a bumper-sticker manner, save by others of your mindset.
Here's the deal. It isn't about making lawbreakers out of infants or others brought here illegally by their parents. It's about not rewarding the parents for doing so.
It's also about letting a huge group into the the United States, whose only qualification is that they broke our laws. Is that who we WANT to let into the country, while keeping the law-abiders out?
