Most people who are in the healthcare business says there is already a shortage of primary care physicians, and that this will only get worse in the near future.
Primary care sole practitioners are a dying breed, just about everywhere.
Primary care is increasingly being provided by physicians assistants and nurse practitioners as a part of larger practices. Patients outcomes are similar.
What this MD failed to mention was the financial incentives being offered to medical practices to convert to electronic health records. That this MD had 5000 patients and no system says something about his operation. Sounds like he was ready for a change and chose to be an employee of a group practice in Australia.
So let me get this straight, the article is about one doctor who decided to leave the US and practice in Australia two years ago....is the OP trying to say that we should be more like Australia so that we are more attractive to the doctor that left the US to practice in Australia?

One aspect. What about how mortgages are underwritten? What about corporate socialism? What about regulations? Far more corporate regulations in American than in Australia.
