Happened yesterday.

Boeing 747 Crash Bagram Airfield 29 APR 2013 - YouTube

The final seconds of an American 747 civilian cargo jet's disastrous takeoff from Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan Monday — resulting in a crash that killed all seven crewmembers — were apparently captured by a dashboard camera. In the video, the aircraft is seen in a steep climb, until it fails to gain altitude and plummets into the earth.

I saw that on liveleak today but didn't realize it happened recently. Looks like the pilot stalled it out on takeoff and couldn't recover. (Stall as in losing lift to the wings due to low airspeed) He/She probably tried to gain too much altitude too quickly and lost lift. My theory- the pilot left NO margin for error and paid with their life (along with the other six people on the plane).

From watching the video and seeing the comments that were posted on youTube, it looked like the 747 stalled after the flight crew reported a sudden load shift during climb-out.

Wow! Sad. But that was some amazing footage! It almost looks like he was filming a movie scene.

It's weird that there is no exclamation made by the driver. Except a little at the very end. I think most people would be like "holy ****!"

Awful!

Couldn't help but notice how the guy who was recording stayed literally silent until the end. Weird.

RIP to those lost.

Damn. Looks like the pilot tried to bring the nose down a tad and lost control with the shifting weight. You can almost see when the weight shifted. Didn't see any blowout on the jet engines.

Tried to climb too fast.

Maybe sabotage.

Horrible. Know that the pilot and crew probably knew w/ 99% certainty that around the 6 sec mark on the video they were dead. You can hear the engines screaming at full power, but it was too little too late.

In MAX climb a load shift (if that is what it was) is fatal, especially for a big 747 loaded up. Sad for the families, sad for the crew. Attention to small details, or the lack of might have just shown why especially in the military (and war zones) why details matter.

Brings back memories of the Chicago American DC-10 crash in '79.

What an awful tragedy.

I think I heard the "F" bomb at the end.

I think I, too, would be stunned into silence.

There are longer videos of this on YouTube.
