Of course, Islam is a religion of peace. And, if you say otherwise, they'll kill you.

Less convenient excerpts include most Muslims rejecting suicide bombings, being split on the issue of death for apostates and chopping off thieves' hands, not wishing to apply Sharia to non-Muslims, supporting the concept of religious tolerance, supporting democracy, and support letting women decide whether or not they wish to wear a headscarf or veil. There are certainly regressive elements, but the truth for most Muslims does not resemble the picture of the Muslim fighting for Taliban-style Sharia law worldwide that has been promoted by some people here.

Great post. Case in point, Opium fields were down during Taliban rule. And mysteriously returned under American occupation

Shariah law, based on sacred islamic literature, calls for death for apostates whether muslims accept it or not.

Democracy and islam are incompatible since islam IS the government in islamic theology, based on the so-called prophet muhammad having been a political leader and a religious leader. Islam doesn't permit religious freedom nor criticism of islam, which are in opposition to democratic principles. It's not a coincidence that democracy for the most part is nonexistent in the islamic world
