As long as they keep putting pictures above the words I'll be OK.

If people can live for decades in the US without learning English, I'll be ok for decades without learning Spanish.

Those of us who don't learn it won't have to talk to them, right?

Think about this. Do you think of Mexico as Mexican people.. or American people? Do you associate mannerisms or skin color with your thoughts of who they are? Or might look like? Or what food stuffs they prefer? By about 2050, it won't be "Kookoo for cocoa puffs." It's gonna be "Más huevos rancheros"

This might sound like some kind of immigration thread. Maybe. Thing is though, is that a few races in the USA are being out bred. In a few decades, everyone on the world stage is going to see us as Mexico 2.0. It's like when someone mentions Africa and you think of a certain race. Is that race Black or White or do you have no association at all? I do. It's Black. Like when you read "30 people tried to vote and they got shot in Africa." Do you think of White people or Black people. In 30 years, everyone is going to be looking at the USA as a predominately Hispanic/Latino nation. It's like, If I say "hot Russian chick" do you think of a blond, blue eyed girl... or of the 100's of thousands of Chinese people there? Yeah, they look just as Chinese as the other Chinese people....from China. How many people read an article about problems in Russia and think of someone that looks Chinese?

Get ready for it. It's already happening.

Much of this Hispanic population growth in our country is directly due to illegal immigration and I will be damned if I will learn the language of invaders. Second, we are constantly being told that Hispanics are assimilating into our society is that a lie then? Most Hispanic citizens that I know of know English also so why should we learn Spanish since we already have that common language to communicate in? English is our national de facto language and always will be. Don't like it then leave!

Nothing wrong with being bilingual.

I personally can't wait until the white people are out bred. Hispanic culture is more fun. And they have chimichangas.

And you're not a racist? Hispanics dominate 23 countries on the Western Hemisphere. Do they also need to take over the U.S. especially via illegal immigration? Nothing wrong with being bi-lingual IF ONE CHOOSES TO BE not forced to be in one's own country due to the above.

From your post you sound like the typical ethnocentric, racist Hispanic and written by and adolescent one to boot.

I guess that will change as well as the US declines. But I don't think any new emerging global language of business will be Spanish.
That's a good point.

I'm done learning Spanish, I am still learning English to this day
And I say BS! If you don't use it you lose it. The only language being pushed in this country is Spanish and that is directly due to illegal immigraton and other lazy Hispanics who either refuse to learn English or refuse to speak it unless they have to. I can think of a lot of other things to learn that would be much more of a benefit then some stupid language I will never use. Just because some other countries do something doesn't mean we should have to follow suit.

My neighborhood south of Seattle was becoming increasingly Hispanic when I lived there, and I chose Spanish as my foriegn language to graduate from my high school in that south Seattle neighborhood.

Now, that neighborhood is becoming increasingly populated by Hispanics, and so is the neighborhood in which I live in here has been growing in Hispanic population for a while.

The thing is that I can speak in English to my Hispanic neighbors here in L.A. County, but when I visit my old hood near Seattle, I need to call up my Spanish language knowledge.

Neighborhoods in both cities that I have primarily lived in near Seattle and Los Angeles have been referred to as "Little Tijuana".

Yep - Spanish is the language of the future - and people here in the U.S.A. had better begin to learn it.

No it isn't! We are being constantly told that Hispanics are assimilating in our country. Is that just a lie then? We already have the common langauge of English to communicate in as most Hispanics know English. Should I learn Spanish to communicate with the leaf blower here illegally?

You're right and English is the global language of business. I know that these kinds of topics are meant to promote Spanish by the ethnocentric, racists in here.

Wrong, most Mexicans are half white from their Spanish ancestors but what does race have to do with this language topic anyway? Language is a part of culture not skin color or race.

I know 3 languages and that doesn't include computer programming language. Get with the times people. The issue is foreign language is introduced too late in American schools. And let's be honest, a significant portion of Americans are freaking lazy and dumb struggling with English itself.

Can't speak a foreign language. Don't take science. WTF are kids learning in America these days. Too much P.E / Sports?
Oh, this is too funny!! The U.S. is the most successful and richest country in the world and yet we are mostly a mono-lingual English speaking country.
