TEHRAN, Iran — Iran's military used its feet this week to send a clear message to the United States and Israel.
A colorful inspection exercise staged for Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and broadcast on Iranian TV featured precision drill teams massing into an American flag with a swastika and a Star of David, each "stabbed" by a formation of the Zulfiqar, the legendary scimitar of the Islamic leader Ali.
This is like a schoolyard game intentionally trying to wind a person or group up into a violent response. It's almost funny because it's just so openly stupid and provocative. It's as if Iran actually wants America to send the troops in to bomb the crap out of them.
Iran does not threaten us in any way, shape or form. If I were Saudi or Israeli I might be a bit nervous. Particularly if I were Saudi.
Agreed. I'm not one for war with Iran (and the US has proved it's not good at occupying countries) but c'mon, Iran uses F-14 Tomcats, they have no long-range delivery systems (so their targets would certainly be regional) and their only real weapon is oil (can be used effectively if done right though). This display of muscle is more of 'talking up a good game'

I agree.
We should have flown some fighters over though just to say hello.

Supposedly we have carriers in the area to keep Iran in check (I guess lol), I think it's all muscle flexing. War between either of us would benefit neither party.

I would not be surprised by any amount of muscle flexing.
I think there is a lot we could do economically with them.
Iran has tons of oil and almost no refining capability. They rely on regional refineries to feed them usable fuels. A war would likely cause some of those supplies to be cut off. So oddly they would be sitting on tons of oil and not have any gas.
Meanwhile, America could certainly hurt them militarily, but we've unfortunately not had a very good ability to finish a conflict once it starts. We need to get our tails out of the middle east altogether. I really don't understand why we have to keep stirring sh%t over there.
