So we believe MSNBC now?

How convenient.

Just wondering, but where did MSNBC get these data?

More importantly, why on earth would they report something that doesn't support their "agenda?"

Inquiring minds want to know.

The dirty little secret on gun violence is that homicides of all types including those by firearm are at nearly their lowest level in 50 years. MSNBC probably sourced their data from the CDC, which tracks deaths. It is easy to find. The homicide rate has been dropping steadily since 1992.

But the anti-gun people, especially politicians, want us to believe there is a gun violence epidemic. And most, but not all, of the media has blindly followed along. It is nice to see real data reported.

There's an old saying. "Even a broken clock is right twice a day". I guess some factual reporting slipped through BSNBCs editorial board. Wonder if someone lost their job over this???

Here's the thing: I think that the pro-gun people have an equal share in perpetrating these propaganda in an effort to justify their own position. All one has to do is listen to some of the "what-if" scenarios bandied about - you would think that the country was approaching complete lawlessness.

Personally, I don't believe that either side is justified in using gun crimes as an argument for or against.

Anyway, if one watched/listened to MSNBC during the day, when their actual news shows air, one would find that in general, they are about as biased as Sheppard Smith.

The U.S. Department of Justice conducted and wrote the study.

You know, the right-wing gun-loving conservative Obama administration.

The only odd thing about this latest thread, is that MSNBC considers it "shocking" that, with the thousands (millions?) of guns purchased by law-abiding Americans over the last few decades, gun crmes went DOWN.

Only a bunch of dedicated fanatics blindly clinging to the mantra of "More guns equals more crimes", without checking the facts for the year after year, would find the truth of the matter "shocking".
