Right now America is letting in about a million LEGAL Immigrants. But under the new law being debated in a Senate Committee that number may rise about 50% per year. When a Senator tried to have an amendment to limit that number to slightly more than is currently coming into America, pretty much everyone shot him down. They said America needed to significantly increase LEGAL Immigration.

He said that the American economy is not growing enough to support such a large increase in immigration and the resulting increase in America's population.

If significantly increasing legal immigration is such a great idea, why not increase it to 6-9-12 million a year. What do you think?

Whatever we can do to keep professional salaries and benefits down as we have now done for blue collar workers is OK with me.

If it's legal it is good, isn't that right?

Actually increasing the amount of legal immigration will have more impact on our country than pretty much any decision by Congress.

I guess they don't care about all these young Americans with college degrees that can't seem to find decent paying jobs.

We have a worker surplus in the US and they want more people to come here ?

Agreed. We should be reducing the number of legal immigrants, not increasing it.

I agree. Especially reduce the number that come from all developing nations. Immigrants from developing nations have a nasty habit of accepting lower than market rate pay for the equivalent job an American and a western European/Japanese immigrant would accept. The latter two can be picky about job pay and benefits, not so much the rest of the world. The only developig nations we shoulkd look at accepting immigrants from are India and China, they are very bright people. The downside is, anything is practically better pay than what they would have received back home, so they think they are getting a good deal while they are being shafted here

There is two issues, firstly we are taking these third world nations Doctors, Scientists, Businessman and Leaders. As we continue to do that those nations are going to continue to suffer as those types of people are very hard to replace.

The other issue is this:

The media got everyone believing that if we increase legal immigration that will end the desire of people to immigrate illegally. If we let in another million legal immigrants then we have only 3 billion that would like to come here illegally instead of 2 billion 999 million.

Ponderosa said it perfectly but the results are not alright with me. Until ALL of our graduating professionals are fully employed we should not have any immigrants taking those jobs. That is the only way we will keep a prosperous and innovative professional workforce.

Too bad the dogs in the Senate, Republican and Democrat, don't have the courage to slip their leashes and p**s on their owners instead of us.
