Should people be required to take drug tests to receive welfare and unemployment benefits?

*Sorry for the typo in the poll question... the last word is welfare. =)

it depends on how much it costs to administer the drug tests.

YES

Many jobs require it, the money saved from abuse would
cover the cost of the fraud that the current system has now.

If this were to pass people just might have to become accountable

Drug testing is expensive and of course the cost would be passed on to the tax payers.

Druggies know ways around passing them; there are even people who sell clean urine to them over the internet.

I'm more in favor or requiring participation in a job training program.

[MOD CUT]

This would cost alot more money to do as well, are you prepared to pay for it with a possible tax increase?

I don't see a problem in doing so at all. After all those seeking employment and who do get paid, have to succumb to a drug test. Do we really need the druggies, and the stoners, getting welfare, and buying you know what.

Can you imagine the cost associated with a druggie or stoned person driving under the influence, or being stoned, if they killed a whole family while driving. And who would have to pay for the attorney's funeral, etc.

This is not a bad idea, excpet for the cost involved. If we are going to give welfare out so freely, i think it is not a bad idea, to know, if someone is hooked on drugs, or someone under the influence.
Just may happen to save a life.

I believe that anyone receiving benefit of taxpayer funded programs should be forced to submit to a drug test.

So, everyone should be drug tested.

Actually I don't hate the poor, however I personally know of a person, who I am unfortunately sort of "related" too (Not actually related to, but a stepchild of an in-law that we see from time to time...) Has 4 kids from 4 dads, is single, doesn't work, unless it's under the table and untaxed, a druggie, and gets govt housing, food stamps, even spending cash from the govt. All taught by her mom who actually lived off of her kids benefits for most of her life too.. They even brag about how much they are getting away with... I think drug testing for these benefits is a good idea. I don't think that people should be rewarded for irresponsibility and I really worry about her kids and how they will turn out.

Yes. It is not unreasonable to expect them to pass the same test imposed on me as a condition of my employment.
As for those who keep complaining about how the rich got bailed out and its a bigger scam.
Who wrote the bill?
Who passed the bill to be signed into law?
If you guessed the democrats you would be correct.
