There seem to be a lot of Commie Conservatives here.
ie: people who want to control what those on welfare can spend their money on.
That is Statism , a thing you are supposed to be against.
Do I notice a touch of hypocrisy yet again by the right-wingers?
Yes, of course I do!
Give welfare recipients cash and stop pleading to Big Brother.
This conservative doesn't want to control what people on welfare spend their money on, I want to make welfare a short term, temp solution as it was always supposed to be. I want to severely limit how long people can collect welfare and I want to see real penalties for people who commit welfare fraud.
That's fair enough, and if combined with job creation then that's a good thing I'm sure.
But how about all those who want to micro-manage - ie: control food choices of those on the dole, whether they can go to church, buy soap, bus tickets etc..?

Who are you talking about? Can you give us some examples of people wanting to control someone going to church or buying soap?
So are you saying that you own someone elses' welfare check then?
The taxpayers own that money; the recipient should use it with constraints decided 100% by taxpayers. Someday, perhaps, a few on the dole will be taxpayers, too.
