With the revelation of wholesale spying on everyone in the U.S. have we now crossed the line into a Totalitarian State?
Please expand on the answer (s) you choose.

No. Google what a totalitarian state is, then get back to me.

Why didn't the Patriot act scare you guys when it was written and passed by the previous Administration and Congress? Back then everyone hailed it as a sure way to stop terrorism.

Now that you people see the dangers it poses, you're suddenly against something you originally supported.

Well, conservatives, how does irony feel?

Definition of TOTALITARIAN

1
a : of or relating to centralized control by an autocratic leader or hierarchy : authoritarian, dictatorial; especially : despotic
b : of or relating to a political regime based on subordination of the individual to the state and strict control of all aspects of the life and productive capacity of the nation especially by coercive measures (as censorship and terrorism)
2
a : advocating or characteristic of totalitarianism
b : completely regulated by the state especially as an aid to national mobilization in an emergency
c : exercising autocratic powers

We are headed in that direction.

To be fair, I didn't support it then, and don't support it now.

Sounds like we are heading that way, while the sheep watch Jersey Shore. Maybe that's why Libs wants to take everybody's guns away.

We're heading in that direction, and marching to the tune of "It's for your own good."

At no point in time did I think that the Patriot Act was a good idea. In fact, Obama's promise to reverse the Patriot Act was one of the few things that was mildly appealing about his candidacy.

Headed in that direction. Right now I'd say we're more or less a hybrid Authoritarian State because of the high corruption in government.

No, not everyone. Plenty were saying there were laws already in place to deal with this.
The government said those laws "took too long" and they needed a faster way, without the red tape.
I recall people being called paranoid to say the government would abuse this blanket power.
I was one of them.

And now they are saying.."I told you so".

You have a secret agency and a secret court and anything they do is secret and no one can talk about it.
Where is the check and balance ? It's now gone.

You have to now trust people like Clapper who say they are not collecting data on Americans.

It's because obama's black.

(the typical leftie response)
