I think people need to realize that with in either party they have a membership which decide o the parties agenda.no matter what the president decides they control what goes forward by control of congress. few people who vote for either party are actually party member who decide on the committee that makes up this platform. Actually as we have seen time and time again once a party has to govern they rarely stay I power long as they can't fulfill all the other promises they made that are low on priority or not even serious on any agenda by spin.

Republicans don't tell you that Reagan and GW Bush created Americas dangerous national debt. Romney never told you he wanted to add $6.6 trillion dollars to our national debt, by giving rich people tax cuts.
Republicans don't tell you that they lie to you about tax cuts for the rich increasing government revenues. And they don't tell you they are lying to you about global warming (as a favor to corporations like ExxonMobile). ex.ex.ex.
Scientists call the republican party a "corporate propaganda group." And the CEO's and billionaires who control Fox news, Rush radio, and the Tea Party, manipulate Americas conservatives in unthinkable ways.

Anyone that claims that Obama is a socialist is just spouting useless hyperbole and has zero credibility.
Obama is a crony capitalist just like every President of the modern era, his political views are center right to moderate at best.
I am not sure that it is fair to say that the GOP can't win on ideas, the GOP is so dishonest about what their true agenda is that nobody can discern what their ideas really are.
It can't be smaller government that they want, smaller government does not match up with banning abortions, banning gay marriage, or spending a few trillion more taxpayer dollars to bulk up the already oversized military industrial complex. As far as I can tell, the GOP is really after complete control of the economy and the day to day lives of Americans. They want to tell you what you can do, what you can't and divert more and more of your money to their corporate benefactors.

The thing that is super funny about this is I keep seeing "New York is Open for Business" comercials on TV.
They are saying that NY has lowered corporate taxes, reduced regulations and cut middle income tax rates. This is the state run by Mario Cumo a very noted leftists. This is a trustworthy democrat state.
for liberals to win, they either lie or sound like conservatives.
And Republicans can and have won based on their ideas. People have just finally figured out that they're for big government once they get elected, so what's the use.
Plus, Republicans are generally half crazy, which doesn't help.
