What is the deal with people acting all excited about things which have no effect on their lives in the least. You had a child ? Good for you ! Not all that exciting for many other people. So why do people carry on as if such events are actually important to them. Or is it just me who doesn't feel anything.
Having a child IS an important event for a LOT of people as well as a life-changing event (at least for me and a lot of others that I know). I think that is just you that doesn't feel anything. No offense. Just an observation.
Empathy. Sharing the feelings of another person. Being joyful for someonelse's joy is simply part of the human experience. Try to lighten up a bit, be happy for other people's happiness. It really does improve your life.

Ya it's just u...u know who else doesn't care about other people's happiness? Sociopaths. Just sayin.
Of course having a child is a big deal for the parents of that child, and certainly for the grandparents too. But let's face it, having a child is a routine thing in the course of human events. Most people end up having children. It is appropriate for acquaintances and friends to offer congratulations, but I'm basically with the OP on this one, as I don't see getting all excited about it.
There is nothing quite as boring as some stranger next to you on an airplane showing pictures of her grandchildren. Why would anyone outside of your seatmate's family give a rat's ass about her grandchildren?

This is not the religion forum. And in any case, I don't see the connection between your post and mine. One can be full of love for other people and still be bored by the clueless, self-centered ones.

As long as u have love for others, that's all that matters . I don't really care about other's grand kids either, but I don't look at them like they're self-centered. If they're proud and happy of their family, then I'm happy for them.
I agree OP. I don't care so shut up and get that baby out of my face. Thankfully most of my friends know me enough to figure out my apathetic viewpoints in their day to day life. Hence they are smart enough to not tell me or to pressure me to take part. It's the idiots who don't know me that will throw it in my face then you're a terrible human being when I tell them to screw off.
Of course, it isn't just you, OP. No way would you be the only person who ever thought as you do. There are millions who are the same.
