However, what we have is a trade system that floods our market with foreign products from low wage workers overseas. In a global market without restrictions there is only 2 ways this works.

1 Bring the standard of pay and living to those of china, india etc and thereby allow American workers to compete.

2 Bring the standard of pay and living for those of these countries to that of the USA (which is happening but extremely slowly).

Whever this government talks about new trade deals and how good it will be for Americans be very afraid.
You might want to check out "The World is Flat" it's a pretty good book.

Pay in China is already rising about 10% a year, it's going to take a long time for them to catch up where we are though.

After analyzing data released by Wisconsin’s Medicaid program, the Democratic staff of the U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce estimates that a single 300- person Wal-Mart Supercenter store in Wisconsin likely costs taxpayers at least $904,542 per year and could cost taxpayers up to $1,744,590 per year – about $5,815 per employee."
Here is an easy fix for you left-wing nutbags in California, raise the minimum wage for unskilled labor, to a wage that is too high for the person to be eligible for Food Stamps, WIC, etc.... or you can make a law which bans entry-level employees from accessing those programs; although the latter will be harder to pull off.

I hope those who hate Walmart realize how many billions in tax dollars they collect for U.S. and state coffers on a monthly basis.
Simple concept, business doesn't pay any taxes they collect 'em and trying to bleed them dry will do nothing but reduce that collection.

Yep, put 'em out of business and watch many states deficits grow beyond belief.

Yep. As long as the total cost is lower..

The model is pay $299 a year and get free shipping (same day or overnight) on orders over $40.

Amazon headcount per billion of sales is a small fraction of Wal Marts. Care to tell about a million US WM employees in a game of musical chairs, they will end up on the floor?

**Amazon has 1/6th Wal Mart sales, 1/17th Wal Mart's headcount. If that ratio does not worsen, Amazon could match WM's revenue with about half a million employees-Wal Mart has one and a half million.

So if you like that path tell every 3 WM employees to draw straws, and the one in each 3 with the longest one keeps their job. The other 2 become unemployed.
